Daily skincare is so important. But not just any ol' bottle of soap and lotion will do. Check your labels to see if your skincare has the key ingredients to nourished, hydrated, protected skin.
Skin can appear damaged and dull from both biological and environmental reasons. Exposure to pollution and other environmental factors causes lines and wrinkles, sun spots, redness, and saggy skin to become more visible. As we age, our skin naturally becomes thinner and less firm. It also has less reduced collagen and elastin, and slower cell renewal.
One way to reduce the appearance of lifeless skin is to use products that deliver powerful antioxidants like vitamin C. The best vitamin C skin care products will neutralize free radicals, boost the skin's ability to produce collagen, reduce discoloration, and improve skin texture.
Hyaluronic Acid is another key ingredient. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that is naturally produced by the body. Found in high concentrations within the skin, hyaluronic acid is responsible for the skin’s plumpness and volume. Also found in the fluid that surrounds the eyes and joints, hyaluronic acid acts like a sponge that can attract and retain 1,000 times its own weight in water, making it an excellent non-comedogenic hydrating ingredient.
After treating your skin with vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid, a quality moisturizer and sun block is essential. Sun block must be worn every day, and it must block UVA and UVB rays because sun is the primary cause of older looking skin. Products with antioxidants that reduce damage from the sun are important, but nothing can substitute for an effective sun block. A powerful sun block is an absolute necessity to protect your skin from primary causes of older-looking skin, UVA and UVB rays. Mineral Sunscreens are a GREAT option for daily sunscreen!
