It's not often I get an email from the groom, but it was Ravi who reached out to me first! His bride-to-be Payal was not sure she would find a makeup artist who would help her vision come to life so he went on an internet search of his own. Luckily he found me and I was so fortunate to work with them. Their wedding was elegant and extremely warm -filled with tradition, family and friends. Every person I passed had a smile on their face. The bridal suite was bustling with well wishers, sisters, in-laws, and friends wishing the bride well, and congratulating her on snagging such a great guy. I really enjoyed learning about her culture and being a part of her family for the day. She is truly lovely from the inside out.
Before "I do"
Payal was a bit discouraged when we first met. She had a disappointing trial with another artist before we had our trial and the issue was she felt VERY overdone. She didn't want an instagram high-glam look with high contrasting eye shadow colors and heavy contours and highlighting. She wanted to look elegant, classic, and beautiful. So we set to work to create a look that she loved.
On the Big Day
Payal and Ravi's wedding day was an all day affair that began with makeup, hair, and draping at a hotel in Denton, Texas. It was a flurry of aunties, moms, sisters, cousins, and friends in beautiful Sari's - laughing and talking about the exciting day ahead. The brides Sari for the ceremony was a vibrant red with gold accents which she wore for the first part of her wedding day, and then she changed into a beautiful mint green and pink ensemble for the cocktail party & reception. We created 2 different makeup looks to accommodate each outfit. They were related looks, but still distinct.
My favorite beauty moment was...
I was asked by the brides sister to be a part of a special moment... She asked me if I'd like to put a small black dot behind the brides ear (I used waterproof eyeliner!) which was a symbol of good luck and blessing in the Indian culture. It was awesome to be a part of that! I really cherish those intimate moments with my clients and their families.
